Acetyl Glucosamine is a building block for hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our skin and has an amazing ability to attract water, it can bind up to a thousand times its own weight in water! However, applying it to the skin has very little effect because hyaluronic acid is too large a molecule to penetrate the skin, it would be like trying to get a basketball through the eye of a needle. That is why we choose to include one of the building blocks for hyaluronic acid, namely Acetyl Glucosamine. It is a small molecule that can penetrate the skin and once it is there, it helps produce hyaluronic acid which in turn can bind water and hydrate the skin. It can also contribute to healthy cell turnover, protect the skin's collagen synthesis and reduce hyperpigmentation in the skin.
In skincare, it is common for acetylglucosamine to come from shrimp shells, but we use a new innovation produced via bacterial fermentation, which is why our raw material is vegan. The raw material is manufactured in China.

Ascorbic Acid is vitamin C in its purest form. Ascorbic acid is a natural antioxidant that protects against free radicals and thus improves skin health. Vitamin C is a very well-studied substance in skin care and has been shown in studies to counteract the appearance of sun damage and reduce fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots.
Ascorbic acid is very light, air and temperature sensitive and therefore easily breaks down and becomes ineffective. Therefore, we use ascorbic acid in an anhydrous formulation and fill it in an air-tight and opaque pump packaging and encourage you to store the product in the refrigerator. This way, we ensure that the product remains effective throughout the entire time you use it.
The ascorbic acid we use is synthetically manufactured in the UK.

Behind the complex INCI name Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 is an ingredient that primarily consists of a mixture of natural fatty acids (molecules found in our skin). This ingredient forms a structure on the skin that is similar to the substances naturally found in the skin and helps to strengthen the skin barrier (which is measured via the skin's water loss or TEWL). This means that the moisture and the skin's moisturizing substances stay in the skin longer, resulting in longer-lasting and better hydration.
The raw material is largely of natural origin and is made from vegetable oils from Europe, Asia and South America.

Calcium Chloride is a mineral salt consisting of calcium and chloride. Calcium is very important for the regulation of the skin's maturation process, renewal and barrier function. The skin has a natural calcium gradient with lower levels in the lower layers of the epidermis and in the outer stratum corneum and with a good and maintained gradient, the skin gets a stronger barrier that protects better. As the skin ages, the turnover of keratinocytes decreases and the skin's calcium gradient weakens, which affects the thickness and barrier function of the skin.

Ceramide NP or Ceramide III, as it is also called, is a skin-derived lipid that, together with cholesterol, builds up the lamellar structure of the stratum corneum (the top layer of skin). Several studies have shown that creams with ceramides both reduce inflammation in the skin and improve barrier function.
The natural ceramide content in the skin changes with the seasons. In winter, levels are at their lowest and may be a reason why many people experience drier skin in the cold.
Ceramide III has a molecular weight that allows it to enter the stratum corneum where it helps maintain the lamellar lipid film for a strong skin barrier.
Ceramide III is produced in Germany via fermentation of corn and rapeseed oil from the EU.

Cetearyl Alcohol belongs to the group of fatty alcohols (but do not confuse fatty alcohols with alcohol/regular ethanol). Fatty alcohols are a group of substances that are often used in skin care. They are used to provide a creamier and richer texture and have a moisturizing and softening effect. They also act as co-emulsifiers, which means that they help the other emulsifiers in a skin cream to mix the oil with the water present in the product, and stabilize it. Fatty alcohols also form so-called lamellar structures in the emulsion, which results in better moisturizing and softening properties.
We use Cetearyl alcohol in our Mineral Cleanser primarily to build viscosity, or its “thickness” or consistency. This helps the cleanser spread well on the skin.
Our Cetearyl Alcohol comes from coconut and palm kernel oil from Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as rapeseed oil from Europe. The raw material is then manufactured in Germany.

Ectoin is a substance discovered in halophilic (= salt-loving) bacteria that live in extreme environments such as salt lakes and deserts. In addition to salty environments, they also survive extreme temperatures, dryness and a lot of UV radiation.
Ectoin helps bacteria survive under these extreme conditions by binding water, stabilizing and preventing the breakdown of proteins and DNA, thereby protecting the bacterial cell.
Interestingly enough, Ectoin has similar effects in the skin, i.e. it binds a lot of water, which moisturizes and protects the skin both short-term and long-term.

Niacinamide is a form of natural vitamin B3. Niacinamide is one of the most clinically studied active ingredients and has been shown to have many effects: it strengthens the skin's barrier function and thus reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL), reduces irregular pigmentation and reduces sebum production in the sebaceous glands. These properties make it beneficial for both oily and dry skin.
Our Niacinamide is synthetically produced in Asia.

Vitamin A or the group of retinoids are some of the most well-studied ingredients used by the cosmetics industry, and of these, retinal is the most bioavailable and active variant.
Retinoids are among the few substances that have been proven in clinical studies to affect the skin and have a beneficial effect on skin health and visible signs of aging. They are very potent and very small amounts (about 0.1%) have been shown to have an effect.
Retinal reduces wrinkles, pigmentation from age spots, acne, and improves skin texture and smoothness. It can also thicken the top layer of skin.
Retinal is best used at night and in small amounts as too much can be too strong for the skin. Retinal is very light, air and temperature sensitive and therefore breaks down easily and becomes ineffective.
That's why we use Retinal in a water-free formulation, fill it into an air-tight, opaque pump bottle, and encourage you to store the product in the refrigerator. This ensures that the product remains effective throughout your use.
Our Retinal is synthetically produced and produced in China.

The Salicylic Acid (BHA) we use is an innovative form of salicylic acid. The salicylic acid is encapsulated in a prebiotic dietary fiber complex made from dextrin, polydextrose and amylopectin, making the salicylic acid significantly gentler on the skin compared to free salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid, which is naturally found in the willow tree, has been used for thousands of years to treat various types of skin conditions. The first studies on salicylic acid's effects in skin care were conducted in the 1950s as part of research in the field of psoriasis. It was only much later that its cosmetic effects on wrinkles and hyperpigmentation were observed.
BHA acids, like AHA acids, exfoliate the skin. The difference is that salicylic acid is slightly more lipophilic (fat-soluble), so it penetrates the skin more easily. As a result, it penetrates deeper into the sebaceous glands, which makes it possible to prevent the formation of blackheads.
The salicylic acid we use comes from China and the complex is manufactured in South Korea.

Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate is an emulsifier that is used to form an emulsion (cream). There are several reasons why we use this particular emulsifier.
Only a very low concentration is required and together with the auxiliary emulsifiers Glyceryl Stearate and Stearyl Alcohol, it forms a lamellar structure.
This lamellar system is reminiscent of the lamellar structure of the stratum corneum and is therefore both skin-friendly and helps the skin form a natural protective film.
